This blog is about historic church buildings and the people who care for them. Churches are vessels of heritage. They tell the story of a place through the people who have lived and died there, and the artifacts they have left. People, often volunteers, give up their time to preserve and maintain them. This is for the benefit of the wider public, as well as the present congregation.

I visit churches on Historic England’s Heritage at Risk register to find out how communities are conserving church buildings that are facing structural issues. I then write about them here.
